Diego ‘El Cígala’ regresa a Bogotá al escenario del Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo para presentar su más reciente álbum Cigala canta a México con un show a puro mariachi.
En 2020, bajo la producción de Jaime Calabuch ‘Jumitus’, el artista estrenó ‘Cigala canta a México’, un sentido homenaje a una tierra a la que ama y a la música que le mueve las entrañas: boleros y rancheras, legado de grandes leyendas como José Alfredo Jiménez, Vicente Fernández, Chavela Vargas, Javier Solís y Agustín Lara, entre muchos otros.
La relación del Cigala con la música mexicana viene desde su infancia, cuando escuchaba temas como ‘Perfidia’ y ‘Soy lo prohibido’ en las voces flamencas de Dolores de Córdoba y Adela La Chaqueta. Sin embargo, nunca imaginó que él mismo también le daría vida a esas canciones con las que creció.
Al crear este homenaje El Cigala se hizo acompañar de lo que él cataloga como “la vivencia pura de la música mexicana”, con agrupaciones como Mariachi Gamma 1000, Trío de Chucho Navarro Jr. (hijo del fundador de Los Panchos), La Sonora Santanera
